What’s New at New City Design Group 2025 – End of Year!

Hello Friends! As we dive into 2026, we thought we would take one last look back at 2025. It was a big year for New City Design Group … new projects, new faces, new opportunities.
In the project department, we leaned into retail – a number of projects, including Harvest Plaza and Academy Village, both in Fuquay, a renovation and new shell at Ridgewood Shopping Center, and permitting of a historic renovation of the old Gurkan’s Downtown Auto Repairs in downtown Cary.

Boutique residential was a big ticket item – we designed the The Franklin, a six-story building facing the Downtown Cary Park, and got it in for site review. We also jumped into the Oberlin Preserve, a collection of luxury townhomes near Village District.

And in continuing service to Duke University, we spent the year participating in the renovation of the Washington Duke Inn – major interior work, refreshed entry, and a new patio enclosure that offers four season comfort while enjoying fabulous views of the golf course.

The new stand alone Alexander Jones Wright YMCA Youth Center is a 10,000 square foot building, complete with gym, after school facilities, and fabulous new playground. The $7 million project opened just before the holidays – so far, the reviews are glowing, both from the staff and the kids!

2025 was a time to celebrate long time leaders, and welcome new talent…
Corey Bates, AIA, LEED AP celebrated 29 years at New City!
Colin Gabbett, AIA celebrated completion of his architectural exams and joins the elite AIA club.
JD Bond, RA joined us last fall bringing his multifamily expertise and eye for design to the team.
Shams Al Naqshabandi joined us as a student intern.
